A place where I share photos, stories about the amazing couples and families that I have the joy of photographing, thoughts, family life, and adventures. I hope you leave feeling inspired!
“…she was queen and he was king. In the autumn light her hair shone like a crown. They collected the world in small handfuls, and when the sky grew dark they parted with leaves in their hair.
Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.” (Nicole Krauss)
Her instagram bio says, “live simply, write letters, buy flowers, and bake pie.” She is described as someone who is full of life and that spills out into every part of her life. When reminiscing, her family smiled as they remembered a little girl who had a great big imagination and didn’t need very much at all to laugh and enjoy her funny little childhood. “I was a little girl, alone in my little world, who dreamed of a little home for me. I played pretend between the trees, and fed my houseguests bark and leaves, and laughed in my pretty bed of green. I had a dream.” (Priscilla Ahn). They recalled a little girl who was as creative as she was kind. And they all cried as the little girl who stole their hearts all those year ago became a beautiful bride and married this man who loves her for all that she is.
While that little girl was growing up in her own little world, there was a boy who was doing some growing up of his own. While Olivia was making countless collages and covering dead bats with glitter (true story!) this quiet buddy was having his own adventures running around on his family farm. And like her, he grew up. When he saw Olivia in one of their grade twelve classes, he knew pretty quick that this was someone that he wanted to know. Olivia on the other hand wasn’t too interested in any boys and it would be quite some time before Brooker would capture her heart. After graduating, he was constantly inviting her to go camping with friends (literally, like every weekend) or on some sort of adventure and eventually his efforts paid off because the next year Olivia said “yes” to being his girlfriend and these two haven’t looked back since.
Their wedding day was perfect in every way. It was the culmination of years of love. The tears started early on and continued to flow all throughout the day, heavily interspersed with laughter and glitter. The atmosphere was relaxed from the very beginning, Olivia’s care and love for the people around her shone through as she took the time to do the little things like colour with her niece and hug her mother. Brooker didn’t love having his photo taken or being the centre of attention, but he is steady and he is intentional and he would do just about anything for this woman that he loves with his whole heart. Everything took place on his parents beautiful property and in their unreal home. The dog and horses celebrated along with everyone, making their way into several photos.
