I first met Matt + Helaine this past summer when we met up to talk about their 2017 wedding. They are such cheerful, kind, friendly people and I was immediately so thrilled that they chose me as their wedding photographer. While we were having coffee, they mentioned that they don’t love being in front of the camera and were unsure about an engagement session. I’m really glad they decided to go for it because look how cute they are! Those awkward feelings didn’t translate in front of the camera at all and I love the photos that we created together. They came prepared with lots of fun ideas. We started off at a local park that they spend summer evenings at and I can totally see why they love it. It’s right on the water, there are pretty trails to wander around in, and the cutest little ice-cream shop is just the cherry on top. They brought their rescue pup and Stella (one of Helaine’s bridesmaids) to help keep their furry friend occupied when she wasn’t in the photos. Such a good idea and I highly recommend it for anyone bringing a pet to their engagement (or portrait) shoot. Having Stella there meant that we could take photos of just Matt and Helaine without any worries and it also meant that there was someone there to hold a treat over my head so that Zoey would look at the camera haha! We finished our time at the park at the ice-cream shop where Zoey got her own special doggy cone which was the cutest. From there we made our way to Matt + Helaine’s adorable little apartment for some cozy, “at-home shots.” It was so great to capture these two in their element and they love chips as much as I do so they are all around winners in my books haha!
