I first met Catherine while second shooting for Laura at Catherine’s brother’s wedding and after that point saw her around campus here and there throughout our university years. One of my favourite memories actually took place while waiting in a border line-up to get back into Canada after a day in the states. We had not spent the day together but our cars ended up next to each other while waiting. I was with my bestie, Erin, and she was with a couple of her friends and we ended up playing charades while in our cars. It was hilarious and so fun. Graduation came and went and I hadn’t seen Catherine in over a year when an email popped up from her saying she was engaged and asking if I was available to photograph her wedding this coming August. Naturally, I was thrilled when I checked my calendar and realized I was available and promptly said yes! I immediately texted Erin telling her the news because we think that Catherine is just the coolest person around.

I photographed Catherine + Daniel on Saturday morning, kicking off a weekend full of shoots. We drove to Pitt Lake and got the perfect views. It was so fun meeting Daniel (he is American and lives in the states so I hadn’t gotten a chance to meet him when Catherine and I met up for coffee) and I loved watching these two interact. They are so gentle and sweet with each other. After our shoot we had a chance to go check out the property where these two will be married and where the celebration will take place and let me tell you, it is gorgeous. Makes me all the more excited for their big day!
