Kelowna Wedding Photographer // Corrie + Devan

I am ridiculously behind with blogging and all things social media when it comes to weddings. The majority of my weddings fell between July 7th and August 26th this year so every weekend was go, go, go between weddings, portrait shoots, client meetings, etc, etc, etc. I can’t complain though because I am so dang grateful to be running this business and doing a job I love.

Speaking of a job that I love, here’s a major reason why it’s so easy to love…

Couples like Corrie + Devan multiple my gratitude by a million. Their Kelowna wedding was the last wedding of my triple header wedding weekend and it was so fun! I drove up the morning of and arrived to a house full of bridesmaids doing hair + make-up, last minute preparations, and a beautiful sunny day (the last one before smoke from the forest fires rolled in!).

You might recognize some of those bridesmaids – Corrie and Casey were bridesmaids with me in Naomi’s wedding two years ago and Naomi was the maid of honour in Corrie’s wedding! It is always so fun to shoot a wedding where you know a large portion of the bridal party. They only made the day better.

After some sweet getting ready moments, Devan + Corrie got married on Corrie’s family property. The guys had a hilarious entrance before their beautiful backyard ceremony began. One of the many things that I really loved about this day was the time and effort that was put into verbally expressing feelings. Their vows were beautiful and full of memories, words of affirmation, and promises. Later on during the reception almost every single member of the bridal party gave a speech and all those words were seriously my favourite take away from this wedding. It was all so special. After the ceremony we headed out for portraits and even though the bugs were brutal this crew rocked it.

The reception was hosted by Corrie’s aunt and uncle in their gorgeous backyard. It was the perfect spot for all their friends and family to enjoy each others company and also I couldn’t have asked for a prettier location for golden hour photos. The evening was full of delicious homemade food, the amazing speeches mentioned earlier, fun games, a dance party, and my personal favourite way to end the night: a sparkler exit. All in all it was a dream day. When I envision my own wedding, I hope it looks and feels a lot like Corrie + Devan’s day. Full of community and heart and laughter. Loved it!

Thank you for having me as your photographer you two! You are both such incredible people and the love that you have for each other, for the Lord, and for your friends and family shone through so clearly. Loved hearing more bits and pieces of your love story throughout the day and am so excited to watch you continue through life as husband and wife. Nothing but love for you both! xx

I am now booking for the 2018 wedding season. Email me at michelle@michellekarstphotography.com to talk more about your big day! 🙂
