Langley Engagement Photographer // Tim + Christine

“I could make you happy, make your dreams come true.
Nothing that I wouldn’t do.
Go to the ends of the earth for you,
to make you feel my love.”
Adele

Okay, let me tell you a little story. Christine and I have known each other for years. We were homeschooled together in our early high school years. We really really really did not like each other. No particular reason for it, we just decided to not be friends. We ended up going to the same not-homeschooled high school a couple of years down the road, and not surprisingly neither of us were happy to hear that the other was there. But miracle of miracles, we connected and actually became friends. If you had told me almost 10 years ago that Christine would be one of the few people that I kept in touch with after graduation, I would have laughed. But I am so grateful for second chances because I love being friends with this woman. She is funny and thoughtful and passionate. She is creative and she works hard. She is hospitable and places so much value on community. She is kind.

We had an amazing group of friends in high school and were particularly excited for grade 12. Enter Tim. He was the quiet new kid who had spare with us. He fit in with the group and looking back it doesn’t feel like he was there for just one year. We all thought Tim was great. Really really great. Looking back and seeing Tim and Christine prepare for marriage, one of my favourite, funny memories with Christine was in at the end of that school year. We were at a sleepover and while Christine was just in the beginning phases of dating someone else, Tim came up. “Tim is a nice boy. The kind of boy I could make lunches for.” We laughed about it and agreed. Tim is just so nice. Little did we know that a couple of years later, these two would become great friends and travel to Europe together. And on that trip to Europe, feelings would emerge and in the next year these two would fall in love and get engaged. Little did we know.

“The winds of change are blowing wild and free, you ain’t seen nothing like me yet…”

I don’t know why no one saw it in grade twelve. Maybe these two wouldn’t appreciate and love each other they way they do if they hadn’t learned those lessons between high school and now. But now. Now they love each other so much and are so happy and it is wonderful. And I am so happy that they are Tim + Christine and that they are getting married in the early summer of 2015. These generous, kind-hearted people are two of the very best.

Christine and Tim, thank you for spending one of the last golden evenings of summer with me. I can’t wait to see where this next season of life takes you!
